This is the ultimate discovery tour combining all of the major highlights of the Kimberley. Highlights include Windjana, Bells and Manning Gorges, Mitchell Plateau, El Questro, Bungle Bungles and Geikie Gorge.
DAY 1: Broome - Windjana Gorge
Depart Broome at 07:00 am and head to the Derby Prison for a short visit. We now leave the bitumen behind us as we enter the Gibb River Road, almost instantly we can feel the remoteness. A walk up Windjana Gorge this afternoon is sure to impress. Camping overnight Windjana National Park. (L.D)
DAY 2: Windjana Gorge - Bells Gorge
This morning we’re off to Tunnel Creek, have your bathers and torches ready. This amazing tunnel cuts through the Napier Range and is rich in history, ask your guide. Afternoon sees us off to Bells Gorge. Camping overnight Silent Grove. (B.L.D)
DAY 3: Bells Gorge – Manning Gorge
Leaving Bell Gorge this morning, we travel through the beautiful scenery of the Kimberley’s highest mountain range, King Leopold Ranges, on our way to Galvans Gorge. This gorge will tempt you to don the bathers. For those feeling like a walk, a visit to Manning Gorge this afternoon is recommended.

DAY 4: Manning Gorge - King Edward River
Today we leave Gibb River Road, and travel Kalumburu Road to Mitchell Plateau, visiting Drysdale River Station. Our camp will be on the banks of the river, an afternoon dip here, and a chance to explore the area before dinner is a must. Camping overnight King Edward River. (B.L.D)
DAY 5: Mitchell Plateau and Falls
We make full use of our 4WD capacity today, to take us to the Mitchell Plateau. Livistonia palms abound in this rugged region. Experience an optional helicopter flight over these falls, you can see most of the remotest country in the world. While swimming and overlooking the cascading falls, take a moment out, realising just where you are on the map. Camping overnight King Edward River. (B.L.D)
DAY 6: King Edward River – Home Valley Station
This morning we briefly visit aboriginal paintings in the area, we must now depart our river camp and Mitchell Plateau and travel back down the Kalumburu Road to rejoin the Gibb River Road. Our journey takes us through the majestic Cockburn Ranges, have your cameras ready as we wind our way towards Home Valley. Overnight at Home Valley Station. (B.L.D)
DAY 7: Home Valley
Today we have the chance to explore the vibrant Home Valley Station. There are many options available today – why not try a bird watching tour? Other optional activities include fishing, horse riding and canoeing. Overnight at Home Valley Station. (B.D)
DAY 8: Home Valley - Kununurra
Our journey continues along the Cockburn Ranges as we make our way to El Questro Station. A walk to stunning Emma Gorge, with a rewarding swim in the crystal clear waters. Camping overnight Kununurra. (B.L.D)
DAY 9: Kununurra
A free day today, to enjoy the many attractions of Kununurra. Some suggestions for your free day - visit the plantations in the area, take a boat cruise along the Ord River, boat cruise on Lake Argyle, fishing trip on the lower Ord River, flight to Argyle Diamond Mine. These are only some of the optional tours available to you. Camping overnight Kimberley land Caravan Park. (B)
DAY 10: Kununurra - Bungle Bungles
An early start this morning as we head south for an interesting scenic drive through the mountain ranges to Turkey Creek, before tackling the slow 60 kilometre drive into the Bungle Bungles unbelievable beehive formations and plunging gorges. A visit this afternoon, to Echidna Chasm with its sheer rock face. We set up camp at one of the campsites in the Purnululu National Park and relax whilst enjoying the sunset on the Bungle Bungle Massif. Camping overnight Bungle Bungle National Park. (B.L.D)
DAY 11: Bungle Bungles
First thing on today’s itinerary should be an unforgettable helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles. Whilst this is an optional extra, it is highly recommended. We will then drive to the other side of the Bungle Bungles for an easy walk through spectacular gorges and the bee hives of the Bungle Bungles, including Cathedral Gorge. DAY 12: Bungle Bungles - Fitzroy Crossing
An early start back to the main road and on to the once thriving gold town of Halls Creek. Then on to our overnight stop at Fitzroy Crossing. Camping overnight Fitzroy Lodge. (B.L.D)
DAY 13: Fitzroy Crossing - Broome
Pack up camp for the last time and travel to Geike Gorge for a morning visit. You will have an opportunity here for an optional boat cruise on the Fitzroy River and Geike Gorge. We then make our way to Broome, where your Kimberley experience officially ends. (B.L)
*Please note: Due to adverse road conditions travelling to the Mitchell Plateau is sometimes not possible. Australian Adventure Travel reserves the right to change itineraries accordingly without notification. In the event that the tour cannot travel up to the Mitchell Plateau, the following itinerary will be put in place (subject to road and weather conditions): Days 4 -8 will operate under the following guidelines:
Day 4: Manning Gorge – Drysdale River Station
If road conditions do not permit access to the Mitchell Plateau by road, then we will include a scenic flight over the Mitchell Falls. We will make our way to Drysdale River Station where we will camp the night. Scenic flights will take place either that afternoon or the following morning. (B.L.D)
DAY 5: Drysdale River Station – Home Valley Station
Today our journey takes us through the majestic Cockburn Ranges, have your cameras ready as we wind our way towards Home Valley. Overnight at Home Valley Station. (B.L.D)
DAY 6: Home Valley

DAY 7: Home Valley Station – El Questro Station
Have your cameras ready for the spectacular scenery and panoramic views of the Cockburn Ranges, Cambridge Gulf and the twin rivers of the Durack and Pentecost. A walk to stunning Emma Gorge on El Questro Station, with a rewarding swim in the crystal clear waters. Camping overnight El Questro. (B.L.D)
DAY 8: El Questro Station - Kununurra
The morning sees us soaking in the thermal pools of Zebedee Springs, and a chance to relax before we head to the Kimberley town of Kununurra. Overnight Kununurra. (B.L.D)
